OUR PURPOSE

The Urban Training Center is part of the Philladelphia District Church of the Nazarene Urban Initiative. Its purpose is to train and prepare urban pastors for ministry and to develop lay leadership in local churches.

The Urban Training Center seeks to enhance the training and education of pastors and lay leaders, so that they may guide others within the church community and teach them how to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

  • To provide a quality program that is affordable and accessible for urban pastors
  • To uphold and promote the highest standards in the areas of character, competence, and content
  • Contextualize the material being presented so that it is relevant and applicable for urban and intercultural leaders
  • Pastor-teachers will strictly follow the curriculum guidelines set forth by the General Church of the Nazarene
  • The Urban Training Center will be subject to and function as a part of the Philadelphia District Church and the Nazarene Ministerial Credentials Board

FAQ's

1. Each unit will require a minimum of 24 hours of classroom experience

2. Course work for each unit will vary. The average student should anticipate two hours of study for every four hours of class time

3. All courses will be Pass/Fail. while the pastor-teacher may choose to assign a grade for the benefit of the student, students receiving a 65% or above will be given a passing grade

4. $25 registration fee

5. $125 per course (This price includes the student guide book)

6. You may take the course for $75 for no credit (audit)

7. Students will be responsible for purchasing any additional texts used in the course

8. Tuition fee is due on or before the beginning of the first day of class. A student will not receive a grades until tuition is paid in full. Students with an outstanding balance will not be permitted to register for the next class.
