District News
Dear Prayer Partners:
The apostle Paul writes in I Timothy 2:1 & 2—“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” I thought this was a good scripture verse as we face an election day tomorrow (November 3rd). Let’s pray for our leaders on a national, state, and local level. Let’s pray for wisdom as people go to the polls to vote.
Here are some other prayer requests for this month:
1—Barbara Howell (pastor’s spouse at Woodstown, NJ) lost her father last week. Please keep her and her family in your prayers.
2—Donna Sarog (pastor, Collingdale, PA) requests prayer for her mother who was recently diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer.
3—Pray for pastors and laypeople in our churches who are already dealing with the consequences of the flu season.
4—Continue to pray for our college (Eastern Nazarene College) in these difficult financial times, and for all of our students.
5—Pray for Bethlehem (PA) Promised Land Church and Macungie (PA) Church during their time of pastoral transition.
6—Congratulations to our Collingdale (PA) Church and their new pastor, Rev. Donna Sarog.
7—Two of our pastors are undergoing medical testing. Please remember them in your prayers.
8—Rev. Jim Todd (pastor, Mt. Laurel/Burlington, NJ) is receiving a new round of medications in his ongoing battle with cancer. Please pray that these drugs will not have the bad side effects that his previous medication was causing.
9—Please pray for one of the ladies who attends our neighborhood Bible study. She will be undergoing surgery for breast cancer on November 9th.
10—We give praise that Pastor Dennis Boel (retired, Birdsboro, PA) has seen considerable physical improvement, and he appreciates your prayers.
11—Continue to pray for Dorothy VanSchoick (retired pastor’s spouse, Jersey Shore, PA) and her continued recovery from hip surgery.
12—Please pray for Carolyn Vail (associate pastor’s spouse, New Holland, PA) as she recovers from some physical problems.
13—Please remember Rev. Ezequiel Gonzalez-Vasquez (pastor attending Philadelphia First Church) who is battling kidney failure.
Finally, we do want to give praise and thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness and goodness to each and every one of us. As we enter into the Thanksgiving season, I am reminded that we are all beneficiaries of His grace. May God bless each one of you individually as well as our churches collectively.
To Him be the glory!
