During this Lenten season there is certainly much to pray for on a world, national, and local level. There is so much happening that we don’t understand, but I am reminded of the words of Jesus to His disciples in the Upper Room just prior to going to the cross: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me.” (John 14:1) As we pray, we pray in faith, believing that God is in control.
#1—Let’s begin by continuing to lift up our brothers and sisters in Haiti and Chili. Although massive relief efforts are underway, these are areas that need our prayer concerns for months and perhaps even years ahead.
#2—Please continue to pray for Joan Todd, Bryan, Brad and their families in the loss of Rev. Jim Todd this past February 6th.
#3—Please pray for our Bethlehem (PA) Promised Land Church as they will be receiving their new pastor, Rev. John Allegri, on March 21st.
#4—Please pray for Port Elizabeth (NJ), where Rev. Allegri previously pastored, as they begin their search for a new pastor.
#5—Continue to pray for Rev. Ted and Dorothy VanSchoick (retired, Jersey Shore, PA).
#6—Pray for Eastern Nazarene College and the Trustees’ meetings, which will be taking place March 26 & 27.
#7—Continue to pray for our servicemen and servicewomen, both at home and overseas.
#8—Continue to pray for all those who are out of work.
#9—Last month, we prayed for Christine Kelly (District Licensed, Port Elizabeth, NJ) as she was recovering from hand surgery. We have just learned that her husband, Mel, was admitted to the hospital with heart-related issues.
#10—Please continue to remember our Schuylkill Haven (PA) Church. A memorial service for Pastor Rose Hoffman will be held March 21st at 3:00 P.M. at the Schuylkill Haven High School auditorium.
#11—Thank you for your prayers for our daughter, Trisha. We believe God is answering prayer. We would also ask you to pray for a dear friend of ours, Paul Pelletier, who is in critical condition at the Hershey Medical Center.
#12—Continue to pray for Josiah and Lily Creel, twin grandchildren of Pastor Mark & Holly Prugh (Lansdale, PA, Immanuel) who remain in the hospital since their birth on January 27th (10 weeks early). Their parents are Bethany (Prugh) and Steve Creel from our Burlington (NJ) Church.
#13—Pray for Harry Prugh, father of Pastor Mark Prugh (Lansdale, PA) who is undergoing extensive cancer treatment.
#14—Remember Anna Miller (Woodstown, NJ) in prayer as she has fallen on the ice and broken her wrist.
#15--Finally, please remember all the District meetings that will take place this month in preparation for District Assembly. Let’s especially remember all of our candidates who will be interviewed for District License and ordination. I would also ask that we keep our District Assembly and District NMI Convention in prayer. Please pray for our presiding General Superintendent, Dr. Jesse Middendorf and his wife, Susan, as they come to lead us.
