Dear Prayer Partners,
Sorry for the delay in this month’s prayer letter. Let me just jump right in with some prayer requests:
—Please pray for the family of Rev. Jim Todd (Mt. Laurel, NJ). Jim went home to be with the Lord this past Saturday morning (February 6th) after a lengthy battle with cancer.
—Pastor Rose Hoffman (Schuylkill Haven, PA) passed away on January 15th. Her Memorial Service will be held March 21st (her birthday) at 3pm at the Schuylkill Haven High School auditorium.
—Rev. Sharon Akey (pastor’s wife, Bridgeton, NJ) is recovering from heart surgery.
—Bethlehem (PA) Promised Land in the midst of pastoral transition.
—Pray for our Haitian churches in Philadelphia (PA) and Trenton (NJ), as well as the people of Haiti.
—Pray for our churches in south Jersey especially as they recover from this blockbuster snowstorm.
—Pray for Gary and Paula Creely as they begin their new assignment the first of March at the Macungie (PA) Church.
—Continue to pray for strength for Rev. Ken Mingledorff (senior pastor, New Holland, PA) as he recovers from pneumonia.
—Pray for Joyce Fennell (pastor’s wife, Norristown, PA, Faith & Hope) in the loss of her mother last week.
—Continue to pray for Rev. Bryan Rosenberg (Wyoming (PA) Mt. View) as he recovers from surgery.
—Continue to pray for Rev. Ted & Dorothy VanSchoick (retired, Jersey Shore, PA) as Dorothy’s recovery from her fall has been slow.
—Continue to pray for Rev. Seymour Levin (retired, Toms River, NJ) with deteriorating health issues.
—Pray for all of our churches during this difficult economy. I appreciate their faithfulness in trying to continue to meet their District, ENC, P&B, and WEF responsibilities.
—Pray for Al & Nancy Shaw as they look for housing in Ft. Myers, FL, and for Nancy’s health.
—Continue to pray for ENC during these difficult financial times.
—Pray for our servicemen and servicewomen both at home and overseas.
—Pray for Rev. Christine Kelly (District License, Port Elizabeth, NJ) as she recovers from hand surgery.
—Pray for those who continue to be out of work.
—Please pray for our upcoming District Assembly and NMI Convention in May. We continue to need a fresh outpouring of God’s Spirit (21st Century Pentecost).
—Please remember our Urban Missions work in Philadelphia. God is doing some exciting things!
—Pray for our nation and its leadership during these critical times.
—Finally, Anne and I would ask that you continue to remember our daughter, Trisha, in prayer as she is endeavoring to get a “fresh start” in the Orlando, FL, area.
Thanks for your continued faithfulness in prayer.
Your District Pastor,
Newell Smith
